Today East Cleveland Neighbourhood Police Team, Special Constables and volunteers carried out targeted patrols in the East Cleveland area focusing on the illegal use of off road vehicles. Ten officers followed up recently community intelligence and crime reports to focus their activity towards certain areas and individuals. During the operation calls for service relating to this particular issues were noticeably reduced indicating that our presence was noted by those riding / driving illegally and they were staying indoors. One particular individual was sufficiently brazen to enjoy a ride. He was stopped, summonsed for offences of no insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and he had his quad seized. As the vehicle was not legal or road registered, he will be unable to retrieve it from the pound. No doubt he will soon see it being crushed on a glossy Cleveland Police poster. |
